Provningsanteckningar

Vi är alltid nyfikna och öppna för det oortodoxa i vinvärlden. Här har vi sprungit på en blend av Cab S, Cab F och Syrah. Från Pfalz. Vi vet alltså inte vad vi har att förvänta oss. Doften ger en stor fruktbukett som pekar på Cab-dominansen. I smaken kan man ana lite pepprighet från Syrah-inslaget. Vinet är väl balanserat och utvecklingen känns idealisk för konsumtion nu. Lite svårt att säga något om typicitet förstås men ett välgjort och seriöst vin helt klart.

Druvsammansättning: 65% cabernet sauvignon, 25% cabernet franc och 10% Syrah

Mer info om årgången: VINEYARD: The grapes from this three varietals Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Shiraz come from different sites and vineyards at the Mittelhaardt. The very light and quickly warming soils with skeleton-rich gravel deposits create the ideal conditions to cultivate these French types of vines. Yield reducing measures (usually grape halving) paired with the excellent climatic conditions of the vintage allowed for the emergence of a red wine with an international character. CELLAR: Harvesting occurred as late as the weather and the grapes' physical condition would allow. Botrytis-infected grapes were sorted out. The harvest was collected in small 20kg containing baskets. Then the grapes were crushed and fermented on the skins for two weeks. After pressing, the young wine was immediately transferred to French oak barrels where organic malolactic fermentation also occurred. Maturation time in wood lasted a total of 12 months. After bottling, the wine spent another six months in the bottle before it was finally available for purchase.
